From day one SFC has been all about clothing details; preserving them is something we were guided by for our belt-back overshirt.
If you asked those in vintage menswear circles what their holy grail piece would be, chances are the 1930s-40s belted-back suit would be top of the list. Forget the suit though – it’s really all down to the belt, which in our opinion is a thing of beauty! It sits proudly across the small of the back, acting as a horizontal spine for hand-gathered pleats which travel in both up down the body. The belt gives a unique shape and structure that’s easy on the eye and easily worn all the same.
From the front of the shirt there are 4 seamed pockets, 2 on the chest and 2 at the hip. A subtly curved front collar that also is perfect for popping if you felt so inclined. This shirt wears well as overshirt, replacing the need for a jacket on warmer days, or simply over a t-shirt/vest. Made from a vintage deadstock perforated cotton, it breathes in heat but gives you a layer when you need it.
Each piece is made on a per-order basis, please allow up to 3 weeks for your hand-made item to be dispatched.
Made in London, England.
Shaun wears a size SMALL here, but for a roomier more over-shirt fit would opt for the MEDIUM. For a little more of an easy-relaxed fit although selects the SMALL on occasion. He is 5’10” with a 38/40 inch chest.
Dry clean (preferable) / cool machine wash (possible).
