The majority of the cloth that was secured from Boccia came in 2.8 metre lengths - more than enough for a pair of trousers, but not quite enough for a full 2-pc suit. With such amazing cloth at hand we had to make sure we made the most of every single cm, whilst still having the option to get a 2 piece look if we wanted.
Enter the Boccia waistcoat, finding itself somewhere between a vest and waistcoat it has a wider shoulder, taking notes from what a suit jacket gives, shaped patch pockets and a 2 loop button fastening, which frees it from some of the formalities of a more traditional waistcoat. To add more jacket elements, the waistcoat uses the same fabric on the rear, taking over from what normally would be a silk/satin lining, giving body and structure to the piece, helping it to be used as part of a layered look over a shirt, knit or t-shirt depending on if you want to dress it up or down.

Somewhere in the bay of Naples between the late 1950s and 1960s the luxury and lure of ready-to-wear was starting to take off and tailoring wasn't really having as much of a draw for people. The Boccia family, having ran a successful fabric shop and tailoring atelier decided to take the decision to carefully take down their rare and widely-sourced fabrics from the narrow shelves of the tailoring rooms, still folded over the original boards, they were carefully wrapped in brown paper and secured with twine. All these fabrics were moved into a low-ceilinged stone store room in the back of the shop for 50+ years - only surfacing now for us.
