Due to the extra high-waisted fit, measure around your waist 4cm/1.5in above your belly button. Apply a small amount of pressure to obtain a good reading.

Don’t rely on your typical jeans/trousers size - in most cases, your waist will measure 1-2 inches larger than off the rack sizes

We offer a complementary leg alteration service on all our trousers. Please select your inside leg length to receive your trousers ready to wear.

If you prefer, select "unfinished" to receive them with a long, un-hemmed 41 inch inside leg for you to alter yourself.

For our zoot pants we recommend a slightly longer length to give a gathering and break over the shoe - the way they used to wear them. If you’re in, add 1 - 1.5 inches onto your usual inside leg measurement.

Backstory

The zoot pant, worn as part of a zoot suit, has a fascinating history. This trouser cut was originally worn as a symbol of cultural pride and in defiance of oppression by the Hepcats and Pachucos in the 1940s. The baggy style was also favoured by tap and Lindy Hop dancers, and later revived by 80s clubbers, the New Romantics and the 90s swing scene. Whatever the era, wearing zoots has always been a sign of freedom and rebellion

Style notes

A trouser that can do the talking for you, pair with something simple like a plain T-shirt to fully show off the dramatic cut.

We also like layering an open shirt over the top to create contrast with the high waist, in a nod to the Chicano roots
